Instagram analytics API
An Instagram analytics API lets your software read Instagram performance without a separate Meta integration. MySoMeData connects a professional Instagram account over official OAuth and returns normalized, read-only history your AI or product can query.
What Instagram data is available?
You get profile details, follower counts, and media metrics for feed posts and Reels: views, likes, comments, shares, saves, and reach when Instagram provides reach. Reels and feed are not the same object. Reels do not report follows or profile visits. Feed items can include follows, profile visits, and website clicks when Instagram sends them.
What historical data is available?
You analyze the history Instagram makes available after you connect, plus ongoing daily snapshots. Queries can cover up to 365 rolling days, the last completed calendar month, or the last completed calendar week. The post and Reel lists are a stored sample (about 50 items on a typical day, and not more than 100 on a backfill), not every media object on the account.
Which metrics should you use?
| Metric | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Reach | That day’s reach. The legacy impressions field is a trailing sum of daily reach, not a second audience. |
| Engagement rate | Calculated across your items. Reels that only have plays, not reach, can be missing from a reach-based Reel rate. |
| Non-follower reach | A discovery split when Instagram provides follower versus non-follower reach. |
| Outliers | Organic posts or Reels whose reach sits well above the cohort mean. Cohorts are not mixed. |
| Audience | Follower geography, plus reached and engaged audience from the newest snapshot. Meta suppresses small audiences, often around 100 accounts. |
How is the data structured?
Daily totals and a sample of posts and Reels share one JSON shape with TikTok and Pinterest, but Instagram-only fields stay null on the other platforms. A null is “not provided,” not a zero. Audience maps are a top slice of the newest snapshot, not a full demographic census.
What can you build, and how can AI use it?
You can ask which Reels reached beyond followers, which stored posts are outliers by reach, and how this month’s reach compares with last month. A product can call the same snapshot. AI should not treat a plays-only Reel as if it had reach, and it should not treat a suppressed audience map as a hidden city list.
How does MySoMeData simplify Instagram access?
You skip the Meta app review, token refresh, and pagination in your own codebase. The Social media data API returns the normalized object. Claude or another MCP client can query the same Instagram history through the Social media MCP.
