TikTok analytics API
A TikTok analytics API lets your software read video performance from a TikTok account you own. MySoMeData connects that account with official OAuth and returns read-only views, retention, and traffic source in one structure.
What TikTok data is available?
You get profile and follower counts, plus video metrics: views, watch time, likes, comments, and shares when TikTok provides them. The distinctive field is the impression source mix. It breaks video views into For You, Search, and Following. Instagram and Pinterest do not populate that mix.
What historical data is available?
You get the history TikTok makes available once the account is connected, then daily snapshots. The same query windows apply: up to 365 rolling days, a completed calendar month, or a completed calendar week. Video rows are a stored sample, often about 100 videos a day, not the entire posting history.
Which metrics should you use?
| Metric | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Video views | The volume basis for TikTok. Legacy fields named like 28-day reach are still that day’s views, not a 28-day window. |
| Retention and watch time | Where viewers drop off, so you can see a 2-second and 5-second hold when TikTok sends them. |
| Traffic source | Share of views from For You, Search, and Following. Do not ask this question of an Instagram or Pinterest payload. |
| Outliers | Videos whose views sit well above the cohort mean. They are not ranked by engagement rate. |
| Audience | A follower-base mix from the latest TikTok snapshot. It is not a reached-versus-engaged split. |
How is the data structured?
Videos sit on the same normalized object as posts and pins, with TikTok-only blocks for retention and traffic source. Empty source data means TikTok did not send the mix for that item. It does not mean the views were zero.
What can you build, and how can AI use it?
You can ask which videos held viewers, whether discovery is For You or Search, and which stored videos are view outliers. An agent can pull the same summary on a schedule. Do not brief the model to compare TikTok “reach” with Instagram reach as if the definitions match. Compare views with reach only after you name both units.
How does MySoMeData simplify TikTok access?
TikTok’s business API still needs app approval and a business account. That work stays behind the data layer. You call the Social media data API or ask through the Social media MCP, and you do not parse a raw TikTok response in the prompt.
