Pinterest analytics API

A Pinterest analytics API lets your software read pin and profile performance from an account you authorize. MySoMeData connects Pinterest with official OAuth and returns read-only impressions, saves, and clicks. It does not pretend a pin has Instagram reach.

What Pinterest data is available?

You get profile details, follower counts, and pin metrics: impressions, saves, closeups, pin clicks, and outbound clicks. Strategy numbers are those natives plus outbound click-through. Likes, comments, and reach are not the Pinterest equivalents of Instagram engagement. Lifetime reactions and comments can appear on a stored pin from Pinterest’s pin endpoint, and they are a different window from trailing pin analytics.

What historical data is available?

You get the history Pinterest makes available after you connect, then daily snapshots. Profile impressions are often a trailing 28-day figure. A calendar-month total uses daily impressions when those days were stored. If a month has no daily impressions, the total is empty, not zero, and it is not the 28-day stamp. Pin rows are a sample, often about 40 pins a day.

Which metrics should you use?

Use Pinterest natives. Do not borrow Instagram field names.
MetricHow to read it
Impressions, saves, pin clicksThe core pin outcome. Outbound click-through is outbound clicks divided by impressions.
Format rateFor pins, the format figure is outbound click-through, not an Instagram-style engagement rate.
BoardsBoard rankings include boards with impressions. Pinterest often omits board analytics. That gap is expected, not a failed fetch.
OutliersPins whose impressions sit well above the cohort mean. They are not ranked by reach.
InterestsPinterest ads audience insights for your total or engaged audience. They are not a topic model of the pin catalog.

How is the data structured?

Pins share the normalized item list with posts and videos. Pin-only fields cover saves, clicks, and outbound click-through. Reach and an Instagram engagement rate stay null. Do not sum a sample of pin impressions and expect it to equal the profile’s trailing 28-day impressions. Those are different windows.

What can you build, and how can AI use it?

You can ask which stored pins earned saves and outbound clicks, which boards Pinterest actually reported, and how this month’s daily impressions compare when those days exist. An AI that asks for “top posts by reach” on Pinterest should be redirected to impressions. Interests describe the ads audience, not why a single pin was saved.

How does MySoMeData simplify Pinterest access?

You connect once. The Social media data API and the Social media MCP return the pin object with the caveats above already represented as nulls and reasons, so your client does not have to rediscover Pinterest’s omissions.

Read Pinterest impressions, saves, and clicks.

Connect Pinterest and query pin performance without treating it like an Instagram account.
