FAQ

MySoMeData is a read-only social media data API and MCP layer for AI. It connects social accounts to AI applications and software, providing structured historical performance data that can be analyzed, queried, and used to build products. The answers below are the same facts used across the site. Each one starts with the direct answer.

What is MySoMeData?

MySoMeData is a read-only social media data API and MCP layer for AI. It connects social accounts to AI applications and software, providing structured historical performance data that can be analyzed, queried, and used to build products. You use it when an AI or an application needs your social performance. It is the read-only social data layer for AI, not a place to publish posts.

Is MySoMeData a social media management platform?

No. MySoMeData does not provide scheduling, publishing, or inbox management. It provides the underlying social media data through an API and MCP, so AI and software can work with it. See Social media API vs a management platform.

What is the difference between MySoMeData and Metricool?

Metricool is a social media management and analytics platform. MySoMeData provides social media data through a read-only API and MCP layer for AI applications, software, and developers.

What does MySoMeData do?

It connects Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest, retrieves the history those platforms make available, normalizes that history, and serves it through an API and MCP. Your AI, your agent, or your product then reads one structure instead of three platform responses.

Who is MySoMeData for?

It is for developers, marketers, and teams who want to analyze or build with their own social data. A founder asking Claude what changed, an agency automating a report, and a product calling one API are the same layer. If your job is to publish and manage an inbox, use a management platform.

Is MySoMeData a social media analytics tool?

It is a data layer your AI and software use for analytics, not a dashboard that replaces a management suite. You can ask analytical questions. You do not schedule posts, moderate comments, or run an inbox in MySoMeData. The AI social media analytics page describes that split.

What social platforms does MySoMeData support?

MySoMeData currently supports Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest. Those are the only networks. Details that differ by platform are on the Instagram analytics API, the TikTok analytics API, and the Pinterest analytics API.

What social media data does MySoMeData provide?

You get read-only profile details, media metrics, and audience metrics from the accounts you connect. Media metrics include views, likes, comments, shares, and saves where that platform provides them. Audience metrics include follower counts and, on Instagram, geography and reached or engaged mixes when Meta returns them.

Does MySoMeData provide historical data?

Yes. You get the history those platforms make available from the connection onward, with daily snapshots after that. You can query a rolling window of up to 365 days, the last completed calendar month, or the last completed calendar week. Lists of posts are stored samples, not every item ever published.

Is the data normalized?

Yes. Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest are returned in one consistent structure, with engagement and period comparisons calculated before your AI sees them. Platform-specific fields stay on that platform. A missing Pinterest reach value is null because pins do not use Instagram reach, not because the fetch failed.

What metrics are available?

Shared ideas are engagement, period-over-period change, format averages, and outliers. The unit changes by network: Instagram outliers use reach, TikTok outliers use video views, and Pinterest outliers use pin impressions. TikTok can also show retention and whether views came from For You, Search, or Following. Read the platform pages before you treat a metric as universal.

How can I connect social media data to AI?

Connect the accounts with official OAuth, then either point an MCP client at MySoMeData or call the API from your application. The Social media data for AI page shows the path: platforms, then MySoMeData, then the API or MCP, then Claude, ChatGPT, an agent, or your app.

Can I use MySoMeData with Claude?

Yes. You add MySoMeData as a remote MCP server and ask Claude about the connected accounts. Claude is the client. MySoMeData supplies the tools and the data. It is not an Anthropic product. See Claude social media analytics.

Can I use MySoMeData with ChatGPT?

Yes. You can give a Custom GPT read-only OAuth access, or call the API from an app you control. MySoMeData is not an OpenAI product and not an official ChatGPT integration. See ChatGPT social media analytics.

What is MCP?

MCP is a protocol that lets an AI client call tools. For social media data, those tools return your normalized account history: a performance summary, historical trends, outliers, and audience demographics. The Social media MCP page defines how MySoMeData uses it.

Can AI analyze my social media performance?

Yes, once the accounts are connected. You can ask what changed this month, which stored posts are outliers, and which formats perform, and the answer is computed from your data. The model still cannot see a metric the platform did not send, and it cannot see accounts you did not connect.

Is MySoMeData read-only?

Yes. MySoMeData is read-only by design. Official platform APIs are called with read-only scopes for performance metrics. Your AI can analyze that data. It cannot post, publish, or manage the accounts. You decide when an AI client is allowed to read.

Can MySoMeData publish posts?

No. MySoMeData does not request publish or manage permissions. Nothing posts, comments, messages, or schedules on your accounts. If you need a calendar and an inbox, use a social media management platform alongside this data layer.

Does MySoMeData have access to my inbox?

No. The connection does not request direct messaging permissions. Private DMs and the inbox are out of scope. The data is performance and audience metrics from the official APIs, plus the profile details needed to identify the account.

Does MySoMeData control my social accounts?

No. It cannot manage users, edit content, or act as the account. You can disconnect a platform from the dashboard. Disconnecting revokes OAuth access and stops new syncs. Privacy details are on Data privacy.

Does MySoMeData have an API?

Yes. The base URL is https://api.mysomedata.com/v1. You send a Bearer API key. The current rate limit is 120 requests per minute. The same data is available to MCP clients at /api/mcp. Start with the Developer API.

Can I build a SaaS product with MySoMeData?

You can build a product that reads one company’s normalized social data through the API. Each MySoMeData account is for one company. Multi-company workspaces are not available, so a SaaS that serves many clients needs an account per company rather than one shared login.

Can I use MySoMeData for AI agents?

Yes. An agent calls the API on a schedule or uses MCP tools when the host supports them. It reads the same summary, history, outliers, and audience data a person would ask for in chat. See Social media data for AI agents.

How does the MySoMeData API work?

You connect social accounts with OAuth. You create a key in workspace settings. Your client calls versioned routes under /v1, with optional platform and date filters, and receives normalized JSON. Rotate a key by issuing a new one and revoking the old one. The social connections stay in place.
