What is a social media data API?

Updated 27 September 2026.

A social media data API is a programming interface that returns performance from social accounts to your software. You use it to read history and metrics. You do not use it as a substitute for a publishing tool.

What problem does it solve?

Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest each require a developer app, a review, tokens, and a schema. A social media data API collapses that into one read-only contract. MySoMeData is a read-only social media data API and MCP layer for AI. It connects social accounts to AI applications and software, providing structured historical performance data that can be analyzed, queried, and used to build products.

What do you send and what do you get back?

You send HTTPS with a Bearer key, and optional platform and date filters. You get JSON: profile context, calculated metrics, and a sample of items. The MySoMeData base URL is https://api.mysomedata.com/v1. The practical limits and status codes are on the Social media data API page.

How is this different from scraping?

This path uses official OAuth and official APIs. It does not scrape public pages. Scopes are read-only, so the key cannot publish. That constraint is the product, not a missing feature.
