How to analyze Instagram data with AI

Updated 27 September 2026.

You analyze Instagram with AI by connecting the account and asking about reach, Reels, and audience using the stored history. The model should cite those fields, not invent a campaign result from the caption.

Which questions fit Instagram?

  • How did reach this month compare with the previous month?
  • Which stored posts or Reels are outliers by reach?
  • Did discovery extend to non-followers, when that split is present?
  • What does follower geography look like, if Meta returned it?

Which questions need a caveat?

Reels may expose plays when reach is missing, so a reach-based Reel rate can be empty even though the Reel exists. Reached and engaged audience maps disappear under Meta’s small-audience floor. Follows and profile visits are not on every Reel. The Instagram analytics API page lists the fields. Captions are not campaign codes.

How do you ask?

Name Instagram, name the period, and ask for the metric basis. “What should we post tomorrow” is weaker than “which stored Reels beat our usual reach, and what format were they.” Use Claude social media analytics or the API. Either one reads the same object.

Connect Instagram, then ask about reach.

Keep TikTok and Pinterest questions on their own metric basis.
