How to give AI access to your social media data

Updated 27 September 2026.

You give an AI access to social media data by connecting the accounts to a read-only data layer, then letting the AI client fetch that layer. MySoMeData is a read-only social media data API and MCP layer for AI. It connects social accounts to AI applications and software, providing structured historical performance data that can be analyzed, queried, and used to build products. Pasting a screenshot into chat is not the same thing.

What are the steps?

  1. Connect Instagram, TikTok, or Pinterest with official OAuth in MySoMeData.
  2. Wait until the first sync has stored the history those platforms return.
  3. Attach MCP in an AI client, authorize a Custom GPT, or call the API from your app.
  4. Ask a question that names the period and the platform.
  5. Revoke the key or disconnect the account when you want reads to stop.

Why the middle layer exists

Models are poor at three incompatible JSON schemas and at arithmetic across pages of results. The Social media data for AI page shows the path from the platforms to the client. You still choose which client. MySoMeData does not replace Claude or ChatGPT.

What the AI should not be allowed to do

Do not grant publish scopes you do not have. This layer does not offer them. Keep inbox access on the management tool, if you use one. Read Data privacy before you hand a key to a shared agent.

Connect the accounts before you write the prompt.

Your AI can only analyze the platforms you authorize.

Connect your data

Read-only. You decide when an AI gets access.
